Winter is around the corner in most parts of the country, and the weather isn't its usual sultry self. What better way to celebrate the perfect road trip weather other than a convertible? Well, Mercedes-Benz has a couple of cabriolets lined up for varying sizes of the wallet.
The German automaker will be debuting the drop-top version of the C-Class. Like we had reported previously, the cabriolet will most likely be offered in the C300 avatar. That means it will pack the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol motor, that we've seen in the GLC300. The engine packs a healthy 241PS of power and 370Nm of torque, all sent straight to the rear wheels via Mercedes' new 9-speed gearbox. It is expected to carry a near-identical (and posh) interior just like the sedan. The highlight, of course, is the fabric roof which can be folded away in less than 20 seconds at speeds of up to 50kmph. On the outside, it looks just like the friendly C-Class, barring the fact that it is a coupe and has a redesigned tail that reminds you of the S-Class Cabrio.
That brings us to the second car on the agenda. The Cabrio of Mercedes' flagship will be the sixth version of the car to go on sale in India. The S-Class Cabrio could very well be the S500 that packs a 4.7-litre V8 engine developing 455PS and 700Nm. Notably, Mercedes have developed a drop-top S-Class after forty-five years which makes this one all the more special.
We expect prices for the C300 to start around the Rs 60 lakh mark, considering it will be a fully built import. The S500 will likely cost around Rs 2 crore, nearly on par with the Maybach.
