Tech giant Microsoft unveiled its new Surface Pro 3 tablet on May 19 at an event in New York.

Microsoft is attempting to fuel interest in its struggling tablet line amid increasing competition.

The Intel Core-powered tablet measures 0.36 inches thick, boasts a 12-inch screen and weighs just under 0.91 kgs.
The screen has an effective writing mode feature.

Panos Panay, corporate vice president with Microsoft's Surface division further demonstrated additional features of the Surface Pro 3 tablet at a press conference held a day after the launch on May 20.
In an effort to showcase its amazing durability Panay dropped the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 tablet to the floor.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was also present at the event where he addressed the audience.
Mediapersons were later allowed to try out the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 tablet.
