Artist Valsan Koorma Kolleri uses discarded material from Mumbai Port Trust Garden to create artworks that blend with the environment

Nature's works of art

Known for his extra-ordinary installations, artist Valsan Koorma Kolleri works with the most unusualu00a0materials like stone, bronze, coconut palm fronds, steel and twigs, and sometimes uses items that he finds in the vicinity.

A creation of Valsan Koorma Kolleri

For example, in a new edition of the show, Camouflage, that opens today at the scenic Mumbai Port Trust Garden in Colaba, he uses plain junk to create works that resonate with intellectual freedom. The aim always is to not just appeal visually but also intellectually and promote sustainable use of our resources. Indeed, Camouflage, the show in Mumbai, will see the artist creating installations from a combination of found and procured matter extracted from nature, and scattered across the premises of the garden.

The show has been organised by the group Khanabadosh. As the theme suggests, Kolleri has used these elements to create installations that blend with the garden as they await to be explored by curious visitors, perhaps a representation of the garden itself, which has blended itself into the city waiting to be discovered by its visitors. His works have been admired by everyone both nationally and internationally. Kolleri will also be conducting a special talk, where he will introduce visitors to his artwork and the philosophy behind it.

Till February 20, 6 am to 11 am and 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm
At Mumbai Port Trust Garden, behind Sassoon Docks, WG Union Road, opposite Colaba Bus Station, Colaba.
Special talk
On February 13, 5 to 7 pm followed by an informal session
At Studio X, fourth floor, Kitab Mahal, DN Road, Fort.u00a0
