Whenever I am starving (which happens after every shopping spree), there is one thing I never do. Head to an eating place I have never been before.u00a0 Not that I don't like to experiment with new eating joints, but I don't like to upset my tummy by trying anythingu00a0 new and go to the regular places. But this time I made an exception as my friend, who was accompanying me, had been raving about Chi for a long now and dragged me there. I cursed her mentally for making me go into a new place (new for someone as outdated as me).
The restaurant is located inside one of my favourite malls: Select Citywalk. It was a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed, but thankfully my friend had got reservations done in advance. The ambience inside the restaurant was pleasant and the seating comfortable. Still, there was something that the restaurant lacked, or may be it was my old theory that a new place can't be good that was making it tougher to get my approval.
However, soon, I began to feel relaxed. I am not sure if it was the ambience or the Grey Goose vodka with tonic that made me stress-free. With the background music and the ambience in green, I thought that the food would be average and I would finally get to taunt my friend.
With this thought, I finally ordered the starters. To my surprise, the Asian greens with grilled prawns and Crispy lamb with peppers surpassed my expectations. The prawns were fresh and juicy. The Grilled sambal prawn skewers followed next and it turned out to be one dish here that could not be missed. For our vegetarian friend, we ordered Golden crispy fried corn and Crispy chilli bean mushroom, that she loved ufffdso did I, and yes, I wasn't fuming anymore.
Being a prawn lover, I ordered Prawn ramen for main course, which too turned out to be good. The next dish on our plate was the Clay pot and I found myself licking it off my fingers. Although I was full by now, I was tempted to try more. The chef suggested Yaki udon- fried noodles with chicken, and I agreed. This Japanese cuisine was a good try and now I'm in love with Japanese food more than ever.u00a0
I would recommend Chi to anybody who wants to have a good meal without having to spend a lot. For me, I'll be back to try rest of the dishes. As I stepped out of the place I was a different person. If an encounter to an unknown place can be this good then I am all open to experiments. Thanks to Chi.
