To make the motorcycles BS-IV compliant and to increase the sharpness of throttle response, Royal Enfield has equipped the Himalayan and bullet with fuel injectors

Royal Enfield is known for making classic retro motorcycles which are widely used for touring by people all over the country. However, to keep up with the stringent emission norms, Royal Enfield have dumped the carburettor for fuel injection system on two of their motorcycles. Even though there wasn’t any official announcement, the fuel injection updates on the Himalayan and Bullet 500 can be seen on the official website of Royal Enfield. The motorcycles are in production phase and will be reaching dealers by May or June, 2017. The incorporation of fuel injectors has marginally bumped up the power of both the motorcycles.
The Bullet 500 is a classic motorcycle powered by a 499cc, single cylinder, fuel-injected, air-cooled engine which now develops 27.5PS of power @ 5,250rpm and 41.3Nm of peak torque (1.12PS and 0.4Nm more than the carburetted 500). The carburetted Bullet 500 was a bike that was positioned for the people who loved the old-world charm and is priced at Rs 1.62 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Himalayan, on the other hand, is powered by a 411cc single cylinder, fuel-injected, air cooled engine which develops 24.8PS of power @ 6,500rpm and a peak torque of 32Nm @ 4,250 (0.3PS more than the carburetted Himalayan). The torque output, however, is still the same as the carburetted version. The Himalayan is the first ingeniously developed adventure tourer motorcycle in India and, as of now, is also the cheapest adventure bike on sale in India. The carburetted Himalayan is priced at Rs 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
The fuel injector has been incorporated to make the motorcycles BS-IV complaint, increase throttle response and fuel economy. We expect a price hike ranging between Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 for both the Himalayan and the Bullet 500.
