Parikrama
The concert is organised by Indian Council for Cultural Relations and the NGOs Advit Foundation and Routes 2 Roots in the capital today and tomorrow. Indian band Parikrama will be performing at the event along with the New York rock band Solar Punch and singer Kabul.
On asking how will music help create awareness amongst people about environmental issues, Rakesh Gupta, founder, Routes 2 Roots says, "Music is that medium which sinks in people easily and they immediately can relate to it. It's like a granny's treat and not a doctor's prescription."
u00a0And what is he doing to make sure the concert is organised in a eco-friendly way, he adds, "The band Solar Punch uses a solar energy powered system for their instruments. We have requested people to come to the event by public transports. The lighting in the auditorium is done by solar charged sources and for all the invites we have used recycled paper."
Talking aboutu00a0 their performance Srijan Mahajan, Parikrama's drummer, says, "Here we will play old school rock n roll, as always. We will play 20 of our original compositions." About their take on their Delhi fans he adds, "The people of Delhi have always been attracted to good music. So by this concert people who don't think about the environmental issues otherwise will be exposed to them once they are here."
