The Guide speaks to artist Sudhir Bangar about his ongoing exhibition at Poonawala Gallery

If you are intrigued by Maharashtrian culture with its tradition of Warkaris and unique dance forms, head to the exhibition by artist Sudhir Bangar "My exhibition is based on the customs and culture of Maharashtra. The figures and the colours used all emphasise this," said Sudhir Bangar.

A painting depicting Marathi culture

This is Bangar's first show on this series, which is based on 'Vaghya Murli'. He says he chose to depict Maharashtrian culture because it is his own culture and he wanted to develop this idea in his own unique style. He has used fresh colours and experimented with texture as well.

"I take 10 to 15 days to finish a painting and the style of the figures in my paintings are unique. People thought the faces in may paintings resemble aliens but today, they are accepted," he grins. He is looking forward to a show in Delhi in October and to head to Mumbai in November.

From April 7, 10 am to 7 pm
At Poonawala Gallery, S-40 Super Decor, Camp.
