This seems to be the season of Marathons and mini marathons in Mumbai. So if you feel like running one today, drop in at the Chembur Gymkhana grounds by 6 am and take part in a 5-km mini marathon that is being held as part of the four-day-long Chembur Festival, the annual festival that ends today heralds the advent of Spring.

Today’s highlights includes the Minithon that begins at 6 am from the gymkhana, the multiple age-group drawing competition (at the OLPS School grounds), a Rangoli exhibition (at AFAC High School), the day-long food, talent and shopping festival along the Central Avenue, the senior citizens sports (at the Chembur High School grounds) and finally a live concert with Marathi composer and singer Avdhoot Gupte.

The Chembur Citizen’s Welfare Association organised event is unique in that it is not confined to one single venue but spread across four school grounds, the gymkhana grounds and even on either side of the busy Central Avenue where food and local ware shops are fighting for attention with curio sellers and Chembur residents showcasing their in cookery, jewellery designing, art and music.
