A beat oriented band with five musicians are set to make you groove. Meet Mumbai-based alternative Groove Rock band Beatroute, who will be performing live in the city. This is their first gig in Pune and the band features Gregory Sarma (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Eeshan Tripathi (piano and backing vocals), Gopal Dutta (drums), Vignesh Iyer (rhythm and lead guitar) and Biswajit Chakroborty (bass guitar).

The gig will comprise a mix of popular covers and their originals. Speaking about their performance, Iyer shares, "We will play a long set, featuring 20 to 24 songs, out of which three tracks are originals. Apart from our performances, our set includes a lot of solo performances by each member."
They do not plan to experiment with the covers, as they want to pay respect to the artiste and the songs. "The idea is to play it the way it is. And since the audience often knows what guitar riff follow after a lyric, we don't want to spoil it for them. On the other hand, we have our originals which we will be performing as well," expresses Vignesh.
The originals revolve around certain themes. "Roll the dice is based on gambling. We wrote this song two months ago. It has got an electronic feel with a groovy baseline. It is a very different sound. The other two tracks are Glow which is an uptempo love song and Working Life is written for those who are caught in the rut and is a serious song, which involves rhythm guitars and keyboards," adds Iyer. They perform live in the current line-up since January 2011. Iyer claims that they are still brushing up their stage act, but they plan to bring in a lot of energy and good music to Pune. So enjoy this musical treat by Beatroute on Thursday.
