Did you know that children laugh over 100 times a day, while adults do only for a maximum of 15 times? If you feel like you could do with a fun lesson on the importance of humour, attend a session titled Art of Humour this weekend.

Organised by philosophy school New Acropolis, the session will be conducted by 43-year-old Sivan Barzilay, a veterinarian by profession and an instructor at the school. She holds a diploma in eastern and western philosophy. In the two-hour session, Barzilay will narrate stories and use practical tools to spice up the discussion. The idea is to help you understand humour, to use it as a tool in times of crisis. “Humour is a human quality. Many traditions have told stories that evoked laughter, maybe because they understood the importance of it in the life of an individual and in society,” says Barzilay, adding, “Laughter is also considered a remedy for many illnesses; in psychology, it is considered as a communication tool.” She also reveals that humour breaks down the defences of the ego. The session is open to all.
