PJ Pankaj Joshi and Divya Upadhyay both come from simple middle class families from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh respectively. PJ started his social media journey with YouTube, where he used to upload his motivational YouTube videos and later took to Tiktok. Divya, a talented dancer, would upload mostly dance videos, before collaborating with other content producers and moving to story videos. But both had a hard time getting followers in the beginning. When both came together to collaborate on a video, people absolutely loved their chemistry and their content started going viral. Together they have grown a following of over 15 million over Tiktok, Moj and Instagram, becoming one of the most influential content creators of the country.
“I am thankful to my family for the huge support that they have offered me. Even when no one would watch my videos, they did. They always encouraged me to keep making more content”, PJ says, beaming with a smile. Divya adds, “My family was really apprehensive of me taking up social media as my full-time job but whenever it has been hard, they were the first ones to be there by my side. They never stopped believing in me and I never stopped making content”.
We asked them Divya and PJ their best advice for young influencers who look up to their success and want a career in content creation. PJ replied, “You just need to understand the pulse of the audience. Our main target demographic is 15 to 25 year olds like us, people who are not exactly adulting 100% yet, but not children either. We struggle with our emotions, relationships, career and we just aim to share our ups and downs with our followers.” “People relate to our content. They see a glimpse of them in us and show us their love with likes, comments and following. If you want people to follow you, you have to create engaging content they can relate to”, says Divya.
