I expressed my love. Now she won't talk to me!

Dear Diana,

We've been classmates for three years now. I love and respect her. You could call it 'love' at first sight for me.

I never had the guts to tell her, though, because we were very good friends too. But, She being beautiful, there was another classmate who proposed her before i could.

I don't know if the guy is serious about her. I asked him if he was seeing her and he said no.

Over three years, I tried expressing my love in whatever way possible She stopped talking to me but not completely. I really don't want to lose either her friendship or my love.

I can't think of anyone else. Should I reveal my feelings to her? Her friends say I should not, but it's been three years. I know i will get a girl in life and I am not desparate. But I am serious about her.

Gautam

Dear Gautam,

First of all, there's never a right time to do something. You wait once; you'll keep waiting foran auspicious time to do something.

If there is someone you've been friends with, that you need to tell you love, you have to be careful what you say. Moreover, if you don't make a move first, someone will beat you to it.

You may be serious about her. Or protective, for that matter. But that has to come across in ways more apparent that subtle messages and emails.

If you love her and don't tell her ASAP, it will be like a noose round your neck that suffocates the life out of you as the years pass. You will always wonder, 'what if?'. It's never going to let you forget. Tell her.

Should I tell her?

Dear Diana,

Everyday, at the railway platform, when I am waiting for a train, one girl stares at me as if she wants to talk. One day, I decided to, but refrained as I had nothing to talk about.

But I am impressed by and want to propose to her. Should I just go for it this Valentine? Will she reciprocate?

Pradeep

Dear Pradeep,

Go up to this girl and introduce yourself. Although, back off it f she doesn't seem interested. You don't want to create a scene at a railway station platform.

Just a suggestion: talk about random things first, shared experiences and such. And why wait for a particular day to go up to her and talk to her. See if she seems interested first.

I'm scared of telling her

Dear Diana,

There's this girl I'm in love with. I don't know if she loves me or not, though. I'm scared of telling her about my feelings because a) I'm scared of rejection; b) if my friends come to know, they'll make fun of me. I'm miserable.

Rammy

Dear Rammy

There's this age-old problem with guys here. The reason is always the same: fear of rejection. And besides, if you're in love with someone, you simply tell them.

That's that. And how does it matter if your friends come to know anyway? How will they poke fun at you and why? It isn't easy to tell a girl you love her.

So it does require some courage. Do they have it in them to do what you propose to? I don't think so. Tell this girl you love her.
