Dear Diana, I'm a 19-year-old studying in the second year of my BA degree. I don't feel like continuing with my studies. I want to be an actress. I feel I'm just wasting my years in this boring college. I don't have the guts to tell my parents about it nor am I concentrating on my studies.
My friends think that I’m bluffing but that’s not the case. I think I’m quite sure what I want to do. I can’t wait to leave behind my present and move towards the future. I was always attracted to the movies. I think I’ll make an excellent actress. If only I’m given an opportunity.

Dear Shiksha,
What’s stopping you from continuing with your acting pursuits on the side? You have two years to go, so why not complete it? It’s always fruitful to complete your graduation as you will have something to fall back on. Moreover, the shelf life of an actress is limited, unless you are okay with the idea of essaying character roles. And remember there are multitudes out there who harbour similar aspirations. Getting the right break is extremely difficult and you have to go through rounds of auditions. It may seem lucrative and glamourous but there are huge ups and downs in the field. Not everyone is able to make it. So continue with your studies at least till you complete your BA and then wholeheartedly pursue your goal — by then you will be older and wiser.u00a0
