Is he interested in me.... or the other girl?

Dear Diana,
A friend of mine was dating a girl for about a year. He broke up with her two weeks ago. During the last three weeks of their relationship, he started spending more time with me, and being really sweet and nice. I have started to like him. But another girl is also interested in him! Some of our common friends are helping the girl and telling her about his good qualities, etc. They even dropped him a hint to ask her out! I am unaware what he told them or the girl. What do I do? I am in love with him.

Dear CA,
This friend of yours was in a relationship with a girl. Just before he broke-off, he becameu00a0 sweet to you. And now there is another girl after him too! And you don't know if he is interested in you or in her! This is one confusing state of affairs. He just broke off and already has you and the other girl seeking his attention. How well do you know him? Why don't you check with the common friends what he told the other girl. Right now he is back to being single and making the most of it by seeking female attention. What if he patches up with his ex girlfriend? You are not sure about his feelings towards you either. You need to sit down and think about what you are getting into. This guy may be wanting to get into a relationship on the rebound. He certainly needs to be left alone for a while. If he tried to get in touch with you, he's interested. If not, get the hint and move on before it gets too late.

Am I in love?

Dear Diana,
I am 19 years old and studying for a degree in economics. There is a guy who I see at the bus-stop almost everyday on way to my singing class. He gets into the same bus as I do but gets off before my stop. May be he, too, is attending a class/work around the same time. All this while we use to exchange glances, but we now smile at each other. On days when he is not around, I get upset and keep on wondering why he is not there. Am I in love with him?

Dear Subur,
Good heavens! You don't even know who this guy is, what he does, whether he is single or attached. He is just a co-passenger. There are several people out there who may be travelling at the same time and see the same faces in buses, trains. He has exchanged glances and smiles at you, this does not mean that he is interested in you! You may feel attracted to him but what have you done to know him? Why don't you strike a conversation with him? On a day when the bus is late ask him casually or try to look a bit upset about the delay. See if he strikes a conversation and expresses concern. But be wary of what you tell him, remember he is a stranger yet!

He does not call me!

Dear Diana,

Ever since my boyfriend took up a new job he is super busy. He has no time for me and has no time even to call me. At his earlier place of work, he would call me at least four time a day. He tells me that as it is a new place, he wants tou00a0 immerse himself in work and not get distracted. But this is irking me a great deal. What do I do?

Dear Wendy,
You have to understand that he has just started a new job. He has to give it his best shot from Day One. Be patient with him and try to understand his situation. Do not nag him about not making calls to you or meeting you. At his earlier place of work, it was a familiar set-up and he was more relaxed. In his new office may be the seating arrangements make it difficult to make personal calls or he has to step out to talk. For the moment, let him be. Thisu00a0 is a temporary phase, remember till he settles down.
