A survey by AshleyMadison.com, a self-described "infidelity service," has found that men spend more than twice as much on their mistresses at holiday time as they do on their wives. The typical cheater spends around 60 dollars on his wife and 125 dollars on his mistress, the survey says, reports the New York Daily News. As for what that money buys, the three most popular gifts for wives, in descending order, are perfume, bath and body products, and gift cards.u00a0 The mistress gets the better deal, as she's likely to receive jewelry, followed by lingerie and a spa day. The survey elicited 28,994 responses in 2006 and 143,717 in 2010 and husbands appear to be getting more Scrooge-like when buying a present for their wives. In the five years since the service has been tracking Christmas expenditures, the amount that men spend at Christmas on their wives has dropped 22 per cent whereas the mistress expenditure figure has stayed about the same.
