After giving a national and global audience memorable musical evenings, Raghu Dixit will be seen and heard in the city soon. The Guide spoke to him about his forthcoming performance in the city.

Says Raghu Dixit, “We have not played in a public concert in Pune since our new album, so this will pretty much be the first time the Pune audience gets to hear the new album played live. That is something we are looking forward to. We would love to know what they think of the music.”

Dixit says he feels a special connection with Pune, adding, “We have had some of our best shows in Pune, and it is always refreshing for us to come back to Pune because of the love we have received for the band and the music.”

Music is considered as one of the India's biggest cultural and musical exports and Dixit’s music is strongly rooted in Indian tradition and culture. It is presented with a very contemporary, global sound.

While talking about upcoming projects, Dixit says, “A couple of new projects are underway. We are working on a dance-musical production of Jag Changa, which we will be performing at some music festivals later this year. I am working on music for a Kannada movie and there are talks to do more movie work in other languages. Apart from that, we are on the verge of announcing a fantastic collaboration that should take shape soon.

Our plans in the UK got a big boost with the signing of a new booking agency to handle us, as well as a distribution label for our music there. So, we are looking at a grand summer tour being announced for next year very soon. So yes, a lot is happening and will be revealed very soon,” he says a little enigmatically.

Dixit is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer as well and draws inspiration from everyday experiences and emotions while composing music.

All that though is in the future. Right now, this versatile self-taught guitarist and singer is to be in the city soon, so let’s ear it (pun intended) for Raghu Dixit.
