Mumbai Food: Give a twist to the tea you drink this Christmas

Apple Spice Black Tea
If you're craving a plum cake but counting calories too, indulge in a spice-rich black tea infusion comprising apple, cherry, cloves, star anise, cinnamon, ginger and orange peel. You can either brew it as is or spike it with a dash of rum. "It can also be used as an iced tea or a base for cocktails. It goes well with cheese toast, carrot cake and dark chocolate desserts," shares Snigdha Manchanda, tea sommelier at Tea Trunk. It is also offering a 12-day Christmas countdown where one of their signature artisanal blends will be up for sale every day till December 25.

The White Christmas
If Mumbai's frugal winter is making you miss the chilly holidays spent in Himachal, cherish those memories with the antioxidant-rich white tea flown in from The Dharmsala Tea Co's estates nestled in Kangra in the scenic state. For Christmas, its sixth generation tea planter, Anirudh Suri, has infused the blend with almonds, cardamom and vanilla. "We've curated blends infused with star anise, rose petals, orange peels and cinnamon sticks as they have an aroma associated with Christmas," he shares. Also try The Starry Night Blend with hand-rolled oolong tea with fennel.

Turkish Fruity Lovers' Tisane
Curated by tea sommelier Radhika Batra Shah, the tisane is sourced from Turkey and derives its citrus-ey flavours from the berries it infuses. "You can mull it into a toddy with whole spices from your kitchen," says Shah. Some other Christmas blends offered by Radhika's Fine Teas include Shanghai-style oolong, with tea leaves sourced from China, and Lanka Black Raspberry brought in from Sri Lanka's Nuwara Eliya Gardens.
