While strolling on the Charni Road bridge, next to Saifee Hospital, we discovered Dhoop Chaas, a unique concoction that lets out smoke when served.
It’s the brainchild of 31-year-old Prasad Pramod Vedpathak, owner of the kiosk. He explains, “It’s inspired from the olden times when coal was kept on top of a roti, on top of which ginger and other condiments were kept. Ghee was poured on top.
Altogether, this produced a smoky flavourful effect, something similar to what we do to chaas. Priced at a mere '20, the place has options galore — Masala Chaas, Special Chaas, Upvas Chaas, Butter Chaas and Jumbo Chaas (600 ml). For the special vaporous drink, one needs to visit the place only in during the summers i.e. tentatively March to June.
