Opening its third outlet in Mumbai, Aaswad comes to this central suburb, Ghatkopar, offering its traditional Maharashtrian fare in Jain options too
At any given time, when you pass by Aaswad in Dadar, you see a queue of patrons eagerly waiting to savour the eatery’s delicious Maharashtrian fare. Having opened doors to its patrons in 1986, Aaswad is now considered one of the important landmarks in the city. In fact, one of its offerings, the Misal Pav, won global recognition when it was crowned the world’s tastiest vegetarian dish by Foodie Hub awards held in London a few months back.

Now, those living in Ghatkopar can also enjoy this savoury Maharashtrian dish as the pure vegetarian eatery has just opened a new outlet in this area. Started yesterday, this opening marks the eatery’s third outlet in the city. "After opening the first outlet at Dadar, we opened the second one in Mahim in 2001. Now, we want to serve traditional Maharashtrian fare in a more modern way. So, we thought of branching out and opening a restaurant in Ghatkopar too," informs its owner, Suryakant Sarjoshi.

From the traditional Kothimbir Vadi to Thalipeeth, Sabudana Vada, Masala Rice and even Usal, this outlet's menu is the same as the others. "However, we will have Jain options for some dishes as well," says Sarjoshi.
