It's not in the stars

Don't go looking for positive signs at the newly-opened Zodiac restaurant on Yari Road. It's less-than-talismanic interiors and average food means a not-so-pleasant gastronomic forecast for the day

It's not in the stars

Linda Goodman and her books on zodiac signs was a key fixture in our growing up years, so when we heard about a new restaurant with the name Zodiac, we were mighty kicked to explore it. We decided to drop by, one February afternoon to this restaurant located beside Leaping Windows.

Alfredo Pasta

Going by the deserted vibe, we first thought that it was shut, but taking a chance we went inside. The door was open, but there was nobody inside. On calling out twice, a server walked towards us.

We were hoping to discover some reason behind the name — a zodiac sign inspired menu or themed drinks — but all we got were few wall hangings with different zodiac signs, this was disappointing.

We took the food route, and ordered a Paneer Salt and Pepper ('80) and Chicken Garlic Fingers ('119) from a menu that offered Tandoor, Grill, Indian, Continental and Chinese dishes.

The service was prompt and soon, our appetisers arrived. While the marinated paneer with pepper flavouring was tasty and proved to be a good choice, the chicken dish did not impress us much as we found the garlic flavouring to beu00a0inadequate.

Since, the ambiance wasn’t ideal, we wasted no time and went ahead and ordered for our mains, which included Chilli Chicken Gravy ('149), Vegetarian Fried Rice ('119), Garlic Chicken Gravy ('149) and a vegetarian Alfredo Pasta ('149).

It was a short wait, again. We started with the pasta, which pampered our taste buds. It impressed, and the white sauce and cheese blended well with the herbs.

We proceeded towards the chicken gravies and the rice. While Garlic Chicken gravy was bland, the Chilli Chicken gravy made up for the lack of flavours, and tasted much better. u00a0On the whole, Zodiac needs to pull up its socks, if they wish to see more footfalls.
