It's not often that we go to review a new restaurant and find ourselves on the waiting list, with six-odd people in line before us. But that's what happens when we arrive at RikÄu00c2u0093 Terrace Bar and Grill, a new eatery located in a dimly lit bylane near Fun Republic in Andheri.

An open terrace restaurant, Rike is quite literally a breath of fresh air. Relegated to the bar area, we sit atop high stools beneath the hanging wine glass racks and take in the ambience. The décor isn't crammed, with sufficient space between tables, and the crowd, much like the décor, is young, with 20-somethings dominating the scene.

We sift through the food menu and order a baked potato bruschetta ('240; prices include service charge) from the Experiments with Potatoes section. The house fries ('240) are delivered within 15 minutes, by when we manage to get a table. The crispy fries are served in a mini commercial fryer, which shares space with three colourful dips on a wooden platter. It's only when the bruschetta arrives that we realise we hadn't actually ordered the fries. Instead, we gobbled down a dish delivered to the wrong table! Thankfully, we don't get charged for it.

The bruschetta is unusual yet delicious, with the baked potato skins stuffed with potato and diced tomatoes that come topped with cheese, basil and a hint of olive oil. The dish is delicately spiced and despite being an appetiser, satiates you with a generous amount of cheese.

Next, we opt for the southern fried chicken burger ('320), where the crispy chicken patty, along with the fresh lettuce, adds a crunch to every bite. The mayo ensures that the dish doesn't feel dry and we are able to finish it off without ordering for any fizzy drinks.
The assorted chicken kebabs ('590) from the Table Grills section come with the promised drama: a live grill on our table. It comprises four skewers - tikka, malai, hariyali and banjara. The tikka is spicy, while the malai soothes the palate thanks to a creamy yoghurt marinade. The hariyali gives itself away with its colour and is mildly spiced, and we can taste the cumin and mint in the juicy banjara. The servings are large enough for two people with a regular appetite, or three people if you've already ordered as much as we have.
Too full for anything else, we ask for a takeaway dessert. But the manager advises us against it, saying that the sweet dishes on the menu tend to melt. Nonetheless, to test how well RikÄu00c2u0093 does with its takeaways, we ask for a paneer tikka masala ('360) from their Bento Box section. Despite a 30-minute bumpy rickshaw ride, followed by a cab ride, there is no spillage. The dish consists of generous amounts of paneer in perfectly spiced gravy, but with a sorry amount of salad on the side. Plus, there is no separate roti or rice portion, as the menu had promised. Regardless of this one minor glitch, the prices are a steal, the service is warm, and the ambience is upbeat. And given how few places in the city offer so much for so little, we'll definitely be going back for more.
