This weekend, step into Candyland, filled with life-size cupcakes, donuts, lollipops and marshmallows, while you can gorge on their miniature, edible versions.

The fifth edition of the Dessert Garden festival will see 70 stalls selling a variety of sweets and desserts, and a few savouries. “We found that most bakers do not operate from stores in the city and don’t have the needed backing to display their talent. I had the idea to feature these people, especially since many of them were doing interesting desserts of the kind that haven’t been seen in the city before,” says Nikita Harisinghani, founder of Dessert Garden.

This time’s edition will see Harisinghani’s team of ten experiment with different installations; a cupcake car (with frosting) that you can drive around, candies, marshmallows, lollipops. “The theme is Candyland, and we were keen on the décor reflecting it,” she adds.

Most stalls will be selling Western desserts, from pavlovas to cupcakes. There are a few also serving Indian desserts — kulfi, faloodas and even fusion ones like Rasmalai Mousse. “Every stall will be selling just one category of desserts,” she adds. Some traditional favourites will be low-fat ice creams with fresh fruit from Ifruit; freshly baked waffle sticks from Waffle House; cake pops from Apron Patisserie; and fusion cupcakes like Masala Chai Cupcake from I Love Babycakes.
