A month-old delivery kitchen in Bandra West treats its meat with the respect it deserves, and that's more than evident in the delish food it dishes out

Mumbai Food: This delivery service in Bandra is a treat for meat lovers

Bandra West is where you would look if you were on the hunt for non-vegetarian fare in the city. From sticky pork ribs at a hole-in-the-wall joint to smoky roast duck at a fine-dine, the suburb has it all. So, when we hear about a new delivery kitchen that's serving meat and little else, we want to see how it stacks up against our favourites.

Slow Poke Burger

Named Yorr Box (after the chef, Yorrick), the delivery kitchen is based out of Pali Hill with offerings including burgers, paninis, pizzas, pastas, salads and dessert. We order in one afternoon and tuck right in.

Nice to meat you
Yorr Box gets full marks for putting careful thought into the packaging. While everything reaches us without any spillage, we're particularly impressed with the sturdy cardboard boxes the burgers arrive in, which - once the covers are slid off - effortlessly unfurl into plate-like flat surfaces.

El Diablo Burger

Speaking of burgers, if you're a vegetarian, brace yourself for disappointment. There are only two options for you, as against the 13 variations meat lovers can pick from. The El Diablo Burger (R370) features a patty of ground beef (buffalo) bathed in a rich beef chilli, made all the more decadent with the addition of gooey cheese, gherkins and mushroom. With a well-done patty and great balance of flavours, we would go so far as to say that this is the best burger we've ordered all year. That said, the Slow Poke Burger (Rs 320), with its slow-cooked shredded pork and ham filling, isn't bad either.

Magic Mushrooms and Sriracha Chicken

We also try the Goan Chorizo Pizza (Rs 480/11 inch). The crust is light and crispy, topped with chunks of the traditional sausage that's devoured by Catholics in the sunshine state. In Goan homes, the chorizo is usually cooked with potatoes and onions, and you will find this being replicated in the pizza, by simply replacing the large potato cubes with fries.

What else?
Because we're curious to see how a meat-loving chef treats his veggies, we end up trying a vegetarian appetiser from the menu - the Magic Mushrooms (Rs 250). Although not the same kind of - ahem - 'magical' as the 'shrooms to be found in Amsterdam, this dish is quite delightful. Batter-fried button mushrooms are tossed in a creamy, herb-laced gravy, making this just the kind of grub you want to eat to feel cosy on the nippy nights that will soon hit the city. Another appetiser worth trying is the Sriracha Chicken (Rs 250), where crumb-fried chicken strips meet a spicy-tangy Sriracha sauce in a match made in culinary heaven.

Yorr Box also offers three types of chocolate fudge sourced from Oh! Fudge. Our suggestion? Skip the dessert and be in it for the meat.
