En Route to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, a banner outside Apsara Ice Cream in Worli piqued our interest. It announced the parlour's latest addition, Gol Gappe Ice Cream. Eager to try this frozen version of chaat, we dropped in and placed our order for the ice cream (Rs50). We were told that the addition is a month-old.
The manager, Rajendra Surve made holes in three puris and placed them on a plate. Then, he stuffed them with a pale green ice cream. A medley of sweet, spicy and tangy flavours exploded in our mouth as we popped in each puri. The frozen mix featured hints of mint and coriander with a bit of rock salt, which blended well with sweetened milk without being overpowering. "The family packs make for great dessert at pani puri house parties," said, owner Hitesh Shah.
