God’s own food

A modest establishment that resembles a canteen, Hotel Deluxe is the perfect place to relish some traditional food from Kerala. You can expect nothing but the most flavourful vegetarian curries, chicken stews, and seafood dishes. Among their specialities are Karimeen Fry (Rs 605), Karimeen Pollichathu (Rs 655), and Squid Fry (Rs 355). The Prawns Fry Masala (Rs 355) and Chicken Kerala (Rs 155) are known for their crunchiness. Do not forget to pair these dishes with the flaky Kerala Parotta (Rs 15). Hotel Deluxe is currently welcoming guests and offering deliveries as well.

Mughlai decadence

One cannot be a lover of Mughlai food and count Kareem’s out. Make no mistake; Mughlai is among the most indulgent cuisines. Be it Kareem’s Special Afghani Tandoori Chicken (Rs 290) or Kareem’s Special Paneer Tawa Kurchan (Rs 400), the creaminess of the former and the spiciness of the latter is renowned among its patrons. Kebab lovers will find here slow-cooked melt-in-your-mouth kebabs.  Lasooni Paneer Tikka (Rs 340), Chicken Reshmi Tikka (Rs 450), Chicken Chapli Kebab (Rs 360), and Mutton Seekh Kebab (Rs 510) are not to be missed at Kareem’s. Gujarati delight

A popular eatery that serves traditional Gujarati fare, Soam is a treat for vegetarians. Pooranpali and Kadhi (Rs 305), Vaghreli Khichdi and Kadhi (Rs 295), and Methi Thepla and Laal Batata nu Shaak (Rs 285) are bestsellers here. For those who wish to snack, Bajra Methi Dhebra (Rs 250), Faraali Pattice (Rs 150), and Khapoli Batata Vada (Rs 150) are excellent options. You can wrap up the meal with some lip-smacking Shrikhand (Rs 200). Soam is currently offering deliveries only and will resume dine-in from December 10.

Bliss from Bengal

Bengali food has always had its fans, be it for the fish fry, cutlets, or mishit doi. Oh! Calcutta has taken these regional flavours across the nation. Among the starters, Mochar Chop (Rs 315) and Murshidabadi Murgi (Rs 345) are mouth-watering. The Pressure Cooker Manghshor Jhol (Rs 645) and Chingri Malai Curry (Rs 465) cannot be missed. Vegetarians need not fret, the Cholar Daal (Rs 185), Aloo Bhaja (Rs 105), and Begun Bhaja (Rs 120) are no less than the seafood options on the menu. Their outlets in Lokhandwala and Tardeo are open for dine-in, but it is advised to call your nearest outlet before visiting.

The best of Goa

Don’t we all want to be in Goa right now? Well, O Pedro is the next best thing (one we can enjoy from the safety of our homes). Opt for classics such as Chicken Xacuti (Rs 675), Beryl Fish Curry (Rs 750), or Beryl Prawn Curry (Rs 850) for a burst of flavours. While Xacuti has a spicy tamarind base, the fish and prawn curries have the traditional coconut base. Those in the mood for something else can try Red Snapper Ceviche (Rs 625), Portuguese Tomato Rice (Rs 650), and Purple Yam Dangar (Rs 425). You can also order their cocktail mixes, the Canteen Rose Gimlet (Rs 395) with caramel, rose petals, honey, and lime is the perfect pour over your gin and tonic.
