The newest kid on the block at Lower Parel's Kamala Mills compound is from the house of DeGustibus, the folks behind Indigo and Indigo Deli. D:OH - a play on the word dough - is close to the rear entrance of the compound. The space has bright interiors with a young vibe. That some thought has gone into the restaurant's design is evident in the high couches that offer a little privacy, chairs with extensions to hang your bags on, and multiple charging points for each table.

The eatery offers service that is between a quick service retail outlet and a casual dining experience. While you can walk up to a neat display counter, grab a tray and stack it up with a variety of ready-to-eat items including salads, juices, breads, soups and dessert, you can also order from a menu that offers meals from around the world that will be served to you within ten minutes. You get a token and when the order is ready, you'll be called out in a coffee shop-style.

We chose to skip the pre-made eats to try out chef Jaydeep Mukherjee's recommendations. To begin with, the multiple house-made sauces at our table, including a sriracha and a cheese sauce, were all good. The one you can't miss, however, is the spicy gunpowder aioli that could brighten any dish. Of the interesting small bites, we liked Wicked Fries (Rs 199) that come in hot, hotter and hottest avatars. The fries were sprinkled with an inhouse masala that was lip-smackingly delish. The Dal Vada Dahi Chaat (Rs 149) featured crisp wadas dunked in yoghurt and topped with imli chutney. The Indigo-style Double Cheese Chilli Melt (Rs 249) with melted cheese, crunchy onions, and peppers in brioche, simply melted in the mouth. The bread, toasted on a tawa instead of a grill, brought back fond memories of sandwiches made at home. Our pick, though, would be the Spiced Mozzarella Poppers (Rs 199), where the chef added crunchy peanuts, giving an otherwise regular dish an interesting twist. We also tried the Prawn and scallion Dimsum, and the Crispy Sriracha Chicken Tenders, which though tasty, are things you'd find on most menus across the city.

Of the mains, the slightly tangy Prawn 65 (Rs 333) served on lemon basmati rice was full of robust flavours from the South. The crunchy prawn and fragrant rice satisfied all senses. We also tried a Vegetarian Burger; and we have to admit that this was one of the rare occasions where we liked it more than its non-veg counterpart. The Green Peas and Potato Burger (Rs 222) with methi, cashew and potato in a multigrain bun was crunchy and made for an interesting Indianised version of the dish If you have a sweet tooth and are not on a calorie count, try the Dunked Peanut Butter Jelly Sandwich (Rs 249). The deep fried indulgence brought the goodness of peanut butter and bananas in a combination usually made for kids, but worked perfectly for us too. We washed our meal down with what is called an Adult Shake (Rs 225). The combination of red wine with strawberries and ice cream, gives you a high and a sugar rush at the same time. Highly dangerous, we think. Perfect for a quick working lunch, a takeaway or a chat over coffee, tea, wine or beer, this one is likely to be a place we will frequently drop into.
