This weekend, be an eco warrior and join one of two beach clean-up activities
If you live in Mumbai, you may have already heard about MahimBeachCleanUp, a UN Environment felicitated citizen movement that has been around in 2017, which is when it was founded by city-based couple Indranil Sengupta and Rabia Tewari. Since then, Sengupta and Tewari have cleared over 850 tonnes of trash from the sea. This weekend, join the couple and other volunteers to do your bit. Volunteers will be required to pick up litter from the beach and then, segregate the plastic from it.

The excesses of "development" often rehabilitate only those that do not have a voice. It stands so for our marine ecosystem, too. In fact, some reports have predicted that by 2050, our seas are likely to be choked with plastic. This Saturday, join Beach Please, a youth community that is working towards tackling marine pollution in the city. They conduct weekly clean-up drives at Dadar Beach and at Mithi River in Mahim and are seeking fresh supporters for their drives. You
can also take your friends and family along.
