"Even in this age of digital content and binge watching, a viewer goes back to a series for its characters. People take back Kattappa and Bahubali, Jon Snow and Cersei with them and that's what keeps them hooked," says Anand Sivakumaran. The writer-director with his workshop, Creating Memorable Characters, is looking to share his techniques and experiences with budding writers and filmmakers to teach them the skill of shaping characters that remain etched in the viewer's memory. Sivakumaran has written screenplays for movies like Kalyug and Nazar, and has conceptualised and written youth-centric shows like Mile Jab Hum Tum, Sadda Haq and The Buddy Project.

Their core [personality] isn't straightforward or easy to comprehend. Gabbar is an interesting villain but it's these grey ones that make for an exciting watch. Honing the character core will be at the centre of this workshop," he adds.
