With several commercial hits in Hindi film music industry, Seth hails from a background of Hindustani classical music. She is also an exemplary ghazal and Sufi music artiste. Her co-performer Dipti Misra is a respected poet with a career spanning decades. Misra’s enchanting recitals and famous poetry publications such as Hai to Hai and Baat Dil ki Keh to Den have gained her global acclaim. When asked about her contemporary, Seth shares, “I believe Dipti [Misra] is the Indian Parveen Shakir. She is one of the few Indian names who can write the exact emotions they feel with courage. Her poems seem to be mirroring my story. Rehearsals with her are always organic and full of fun; I am very excited for our upcoming performance as well.”
Misra’s ghazals will complement Seth’s musical notes. About what to expect at the concert, she says, “It will be a unique evening that has been previously loved. Hopefully, it will receive the same reaction once again. This idea dawned upon us quite naturally during a trip to Bagoda in Rajasthan, and since then, it has been practised with great dedication. Now, the act waits to be performed in a new space.”
