Woman, who posed as a social worker while befriending the mother, told cops that since she couldn't conceive after three years of marriage, she abducted the 10-day-old child
The Hinjewadi police yesterday arrested a 32-year-old woman who on Friday, posing as a social worker, had run away with the 10-day-old baby of a woman whom she had befriended in Sassoon hospital. The woman has been identified as Swati Indrajit Gaikwad, a resident of Kailashnagar in Thergaon.
Swati is married for three years and has no children. Her husband works as a taxi driver, while Swati works as a nurse with a Nurses Bureau and also allegedly possesses an identity card of the Home Guard. Bund Garden police station has registered a case under section 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code against Gaikwad.
