Mundhwa police, on Saturday, arrested two youths, including a sales agent representative of a bank, on charges of duping seven banks to the tune of Rs 53 lakh by availing personal loans through forged documents.
The suspects have been identified as Anand Khandu Waghmare (38), of Ghorpadigaon and Vishal Gopalraj Kapoor alias Faizal Nazir Shaikh alias Ahmed Shaikh (29), from NIBM road in Kondhwa.
The duo has been remanded in police custody till December 6. Amit Shripad Shahane (30), a representative of the bank, filed the complaint against the duo in this regard.
Police Sub-Inspector V A Ingle said the complainant represents City Bank, which had appointed an agency named Crystal Range Solutions Direct Sales to help persons looking to avail of personal loans.
Waghmare was an agent of this agency. “Waghmare had submitted some documents on October 27 in the name of Vishal Kapoor and helped him secure a loan of Rs 10 lakh.
The bank authorities, however, recently realised that the documents submitted were forged, and a case was filed. Subsequent investigations revealed that the accused have duped a total of seven banks to the tune of Rs 53.49 lakh,” said Ingle.
Police officials demanded seven days custody of the duo to recover the amount fraudulently availed through loans. u00a0A court of the Judicial Magistrate (First Class) remanded the suspects in police custody till December 6. u00a0
