Navi Mumbai cops said that the accused, who had developed a friendship with survivor, had repeatedly raped her between Oct 2022 and January this year.

A man was booked for allegedly repeatedly raping a 25-year-old woman from Navi Mumbai, a police official said on Monday. As per a PTI report, the official said that the accused had been blackmailing the woman too.

Kamothe police station official told news agency PTI that the Navi Mumbai resident works for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation while the man is a resident of Maharashtra's Ahmednagar.
Cops further said that the accused, who had developed a friendship with the survivor, had repeatedly raped her between October 2022 and January this year.
"As per the complaint, the man and woman developed a friendship, after which he raped her several times between October 2022 and January this year," the official from Kamothe station told PTI.
"He exploited her by threatening to defame her. We registered a rape case on Saturday but are yet to arrest the accused," the official added.
In another incident from Navi Mumbai, two people were taken into custody after the police discovered a sex racket. Meanwhile, a 14-year-old girl from Bangladesh was saved, according to a police statement on Sunday. The sex racket was caught in the city's Taloja neighbourhood, according to a PTI report.
According to Sub Inspector Suresh Kurhade of the Taloja police station, a tip-off verified by a dummy customer led to a raid on a flat in a residential community on Saturday.
The cop continued, "Two people, Samon Shaikh and Mohinoor Mandal, were arrested, and a 14-year-old girl from Bangladesh was rescued." "A case has been filed under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act."
Similarly, the Mumbai police busted a sex racket involving a former Bollywood actor and her domestic helper. The duo was nabbed by Bangur Nagar police last week in Goregaon.
Former Bollywood actress Kanika Goldar, 62, was arrested for running a high-profile sex work ring out of her Goregaon home together with her cook, Naresh Kumar Dangi. According to a mid-day newspaper, the arrest happened during a raid on Saturday by Bangur Nagar police.
As per the report, the authorities initiated undercover investigations after receiving a tip about Goldar's illicit activities. Goldar and Dangi were apprehended by officials after they meddled in negotiations with a fraudulent customer.
