Twenty years and 20,197 immunisations definitely deserve a place in the record books.
Doctor Alan Alappat, who has been running the immunisation programme at his clinic in Kurar, since 1989, received confirmation last week that his name would finally appear in the 2009 edition of the Limca Book of Records for single-handedly conducting the most number of immunisations on children.

"They asked me for proof and I photocopied all my registration files. The result was two large bundles
that may have shocked them or even made some good bedside reading," said an ecstatic Alappat.

"I called them a few times later, but I got a 'don't call us, we'll call you' response. I then decided to be patient.
