Residents of Lalbaug bid goodbye to the flyover that'll be demolished today
For most residents of Lalbaug, 'their' flyover is as famous as its beloved Ganesha idol. And last night just one day before it was to be demolished around 150-200 people gathered on the 35-year-old flyover to say their last goodbyes.
They clicked pictures on the flyover with their family and friends. While some children rode their bicycles, others took an after-dinner walk on the flyover. All the people MiD DAY spoke to said they were happy about the demolition. "The two-way flyover will help a lot of Mumbaikars. There will be traffic congestion initially, but a lot of problems will be solved too," they said.
The demolition of the flyover is expected to start at 9 am today and will be completed in 15 days. Vijay Yadav (24) will be the first man to start the demolition process with his crane and cutter.
