Specialu00a0parking privileges accorded to guests of Antilia Mukesh Ambani's glittering new 27-storey home at Altamount Road are proving to be a nuisance for residents of the area, former commissioner of police Julio Ribeiro has said in a letter to the traffic police.u00a0

The traffic police has allegedly asked residents to park their cars in other places so that Ambani's guests can park their vehicles in and around his residence.

The letter (copy with MiD DAY) addressed to the joint commissioner of police (traffic) by the Public Concern for Governance Trust, of which Ribeiro is a trustee, states that the move is "most objectionable and insensitive."

"If Mukesh Ambani cannot accommodate the cars of all his guests, he should either reduce the number of guests he invites or the traffic police should ask the guests, not covered by protocol or security concerns, to park their cars at Nana Nani Park, Priyadarshini Park, August Kranti Maidan or Hanging Gardens," Ribeiro has said in the letter.u00a0

"I, former commissioner of police, was asked to park my vehicle at Hanging Gardens on Republic Day by the Governor.

I do not understand why Mukesh Ambani's guests, not covered by protocol, cannot be asked to move," he has stated.

The Other Side

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vivek Phansalkar said, "I have not received any letter yet and it would be premature to comment on the matter."

Reliance's spokesperson Tushar Pania refused to comment. Sources close to Ambani, however, said the step was taken by the traffic police keeping the security of his guests in mind.
