Civic body to chalk out an ambitious 20-year plan for citizens in its public health vision document
The BMC is working on a health vision document, a comprehensive health plan for Mumbai for the two decades leading to 2030. The document envisages an increased participation by the private sector in BMC hospitals, thus clearing the way for the entry of private doctors to resolve the ongoing crunch of qualified doctors in civic hospitals.
"Vision Document 2030 will tell us what needs to be done to keep Mumbaikars hale and hearty for the next 20 years. We are also considering allowing private doctors to practice in civic hospitals and dispensaries," explained Additional Municipal Commissioner Kishor Gajbhiye. BMC officials said a private consultant would be selected through the floating of global tenders for framing the health vision document in a month's time.
