"We had to stop work at Peddar road, yesterday, as it was creating problems for commuters. Once the road was restricted to one-way use, traffic flow was expected to be heavy so we had planned for alternative routes with the help traffic department but things did not work out," Additional Municipal Commissioner R A Rajeev said.
"We will start the work again in May during the summer vacations and would try to finish it at the earliest."
Rajeev denied that the BMC was to be blamed for the stoppage of work.
"Inconvenience was bound to happen but people should have co-operated a bit. We had already taken suggestions from the residents before implementing the work," he said.
The Additional Municipal Commissioner said that the Peddar Road and Malabar Hills resident's associations' were unhappy with the decision to stop work.
