The clean-up drive, jointly organised by BNHS and Dadasaheb Phalke Film City, on the occasion of World Earth Day at the BNHS CEC land and Film City premises in Goregaon (E) brought together BNHS volunteers and Film City staff who diligently picked up every single piece of trash that had been wantonly thrown in this green pocket of Mumbai on the fringes of Sanjay Gandhi National Park.

A total of 15 gunny bags were filled up with the trash collected from the forest trails and road side in the area by a total of 40-45 volunteers.

The trash primarily included plastic tea cups, pouches of gutkha, cigarettes packets, empty beer bottles, glass pieces, used newspaper pages, discarded footwear and other such non-biodegradable material.

An awareness rally was later taken to the movie sets in the vicinity in order to drive home the cleanliness message in the Bollywood fraternity.

This was the first of its kind initiative.

BNHS volunteers included schoolchildren of various age groups, along with their parents. The Film City volunteers included the administrative and security staff.
