According to J C Khanna, secretary of the BSPCA, though there isn't a fear of the virus being transmitted from animals to human beings, pigs will have to be observed for any symptoms as a precautionary measure. Two pigs, which were rescued and housed at the BSPCA centre, are being tested for the virus. The enclosure that houses the pigs is also being disinfected.
Khanna pointed out that pigs are reared in the slums without any care. He said, "It is the responsibility of the owners to check if the pigs are showing any signs of the swine flu virus. We are prepared to treat the pigs."
