Cong-NCP should unite during Mah polls: Bhujbal

Advocating an alliance between Congress and NCP for the forthcoming Assembly elections in the state, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Chaggan Bhujbal today said that the latter will have be prepared to go to the polls alone.

We want an alliance with the Congress in the elections but if they insist that we fight the elections on our own then the same should be discussed on priority and a decision should be taken in this regard soon, the NCP leader said on the sidelines of a function here.

In 1999, we fought the elections separately and gave room for the BJP-SS to come to power.

This should not be repeated, Bhujbal said. An alliance between Congress and NCP is needed to prevent the votes from splitting, he said.
