Cops will file chargesheet against IM accused

The Mumbai police will today file a chargesheet against the 21 arrested and seven wanted accused of Indian Mujahideen and SIMI outfits responsible for the Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Delhi blasts last year.

The Mumbai police will today file a chargesheet against the 21 arrested and seven wanted accused of Indian Mujahideen and SIMI outfits responsible for the
, Ahmedabad and Delhi blasts last year.



The Mumbai police have arrested five members of the group that sent threatening e-mails before the blasts, and the men accused of involvement in the theft of the car used in the Ahmedabad blasts from Navi Mumbai.

The founder member of IM, Mohammed Sadiq Sheikh, has also been arrested. The police have also arrested the men involved in placing of bombs in Surat.

Many of the accused have already given their statements under Section 164 of the CRPC before a magistrate. Seven accused, including the main man behind the blasts, Riyaz Bhatkal and six others, are wanted by the Mumbai police.

Around 100 accused have been arrested in Jaipur, Gujarat, Delhi and Mumbai so far, and more than 50 continue to be at large.

While other states are expected to file chargesheets against those connected to the mentioned blasts, the Mumbai police will not file any more chargesheets, as none of the mentioned blasts have occurred in the city.
