The Bombay High Court on Thursday morning set aside appointment of Maharashtra's Director General of Police, A N Roy. Terming the appointment illegal, the Bombay HC has asked the state government to appoint a new DGP in four weeks.
A petition was filed in the court on his appointment as DGP superceding three senior officers. Roy's appointment as DGP had come under cloud, when Director General of Home Guards and Civil Defence S Chakravarthy moved the Central Administrative Tribunal, challenging the state's decision to appoint him overlooking three other officials, including Chakravarthy, who were senior to him.
