While some hall tickets have duplicate numbers, others show the wrong course and some photographs are missing; colleges stuck between correcting errors and preparing for exams
The delay from Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) in dispatching hall tickets for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams is not the only obstacle that city colleges seem to be facing. It appears that several students have complained of errors in their hall tickets that arrived on February 3 and 4 from incorrect pictures of candidates to wrong signatures.

Until last year, hall tickets were usually provided to students 15 days before their exams began. This year, they arrived three days before their practicals
This is the first year in which colleges had submitted applications to MSBSHSE online, to record their students’ data for the board exams. This process, too, had problems when colleges tried to feed the details of their students, the server crashed. Due to the non-manual process, the hall tickets also took more time to reach colleges. Usually hall tickets are given to students 15 days before the exams start. This year, they received it on February 3 and 4, with practical exams starting from February 7.
Despite colleges sending a pre-list of corrections, the Board still sent hall tickets with several errors. Representation pics
Ramesh Deshpande, vice-principal of Bhavan’s College, said, “Despite sending the pre-list with corrections, the board has send some hall tickets with errors. Even mistakes that were not mentioned in the list are there in the hall tickets. Some students don’t have their pictures, while others have the name of their older course mentioned. For these issues, we will have to send the tickets back to the board office and the students will have to bear a fine, even if it’s not their mistake. We have about 25,000 students in our college. Do we work on the corrections or conduct the practical exams?"
Echoing similar sentiments was Mehek Gvalani, vice- principal of KC College. Gvalani stated, “Many students have received hall tickets with mistakes like incorrect course details, wrong picture of the candidate, etc. There are also cases of same seat numbers assigned to two students.”
Board says
Speaking on the issue, Laxmikant Pandey, chairman of MSBSHSE, Mumbai Divisional Board said, “We have not received any calls about errors in hall tickets yet. In case of major changes, the college can send it back to us for correction and minor changes can be rectified at their level, informing us of the same.”
Rulebook says
According to the regulations, in case of minor changes, the college has the authority to correct errors with their signature. However, for major errors, the hall tickets have to be sent back to the board office.
