The Nerul police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against M/S Vighnahar Developer and some officials from the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in the Palm Beach FSI scam.
The FIR was filed after the police raided the offices and homes of the officials. Senior Inspector Rajkumar Chafekar said, "We have registered a case against the developers and the NMMC officials under Sections 406, 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (criminal breach of trust by public servant), 471, 409 and 34 of the IPC.
However, the officials are absconding and we are looking for them."
Authorities said that they had filed an FIR against six partners of M/S Vighnahar developers namely Vijay Gajra, Lada Ravasia, Dinesh Patel, Versi Dama, Govind Varchand and Keshavji Gala. The FIR also has been registered against A R Anurag director of M/S Daimation Architect Private Limited and RCC consultant A G Gokhale.
The NMMC officials are Umesh Patil, Dilip Kulkarni and Sanjay Banaiet.
The entire scam came to light when residents approached the Bombay High Court after the local police refused to take any action against the developers who alleged that the Vighnahar Heights at Palm Beach road were constructed by allegedly violating the FSI norms laid down by the state Urban Development (UD) department.
Reacting to the reports of misconduct, NMMC's Town planning department carried out a survey in which it was found that approximately 350 towers had been constructed by violating FSI norms.
