There will be well-equipped kitchens to provide quality food to the patients free of cost and one relative attending him/her.u00a0
According to Chief Executive Officer Subash Hazare, Thane Zilla Parishad said, "Apart from this, the health centres are being upgraded at a cost of around 12 crore. Rs 1 lakh is being provided to each of the 78 PHCs in the district to provide food to in-house patients."
Private parties will run the kitchen. Rs 5 lakh each has been provided to 20 PHCs for upgrading facilities, including setting up separate male and female wards and operation theatres.
The district administration has done commendable work in checking malnutrition and child deaths. The malnutrition cases have been coming down over the years - 2004-05 (1,966), 2005-06 (1,437), 2006-07 (647) and 2007-08 (345).
"The figures of Infant death have come down after various steps were taken by the administration," added Hazare.
As per the records of Zilla Parishad, CEO, the figures were 2004-05 (2,431), 2005-06 (2,363), 2006-07 (2,493); 2007-08 (1,791) and 2008-09, up to September (917).
