Apparently, the Airbus A320 was told to return to Lucknow due to a technical glitch, but passengers alleged they were not told of it.

"We took off at 12.30 pm, at the scheduled time, but landed back at the same airport at 1.30 pm. It was supposed to be a two-hour flight to Mumbai. So, we were all stunned as to how we reached so soon. The pilot never informed us that we had landed back in Lucknow," said Akhilesh Chaubey, a frequent flier with GoAir.

While the ground staff informed passengers about the glitch, the travellers were made to wait for over six hours at the airport for another flight.

One of the passengers, Mukesh Pandey, said, "The airline officials have taken us for granted. They are uncooperative and won't even tell us when the alternative flight will take off."

Passengers were served a plain vegetable sandwich with tea. But around 5 pm, the travellers got agitated and demanded an explanation from the airline authorities.

"It was only after senior CISF officials intervened that the passengers were brought under control," said an airport official.

The alternative flight finally took off at 7.35 pm and landed at the Mumbai airport at 9.45 pm, an airline official said.
