LeT threat
The preparations assume significance in light of an intelligence report that Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commandos would target the city on July 28 and August 21.

Though Joint Commissi-oner of Police (Law and Order) K L Prasad said he was unaware of a possible attack, senior inspectors of police stations along the Konkan coast have been asked to remain on high alert and patrol the shoreline through the night.
The report was shared by all senior officers of the rank of deputy commissioner of police and above.
The information and instructions were then passed on to police stations along the shores.
The source of the tip-off has been attributed to the Intelligence Bureau and was generated from field operatives across the border.
