A husband wife lost their lives after a speeding Xylo knocked them down on the Western Express Highway Malad east early on Wednesday

A husband wife lost their lives after a speeding Xylo knocked them down on the Western Express Highway Malad east early on Wednesday.


The deceased were identified as Harendra Rajpura and Bhavna Rajpura.


At 6 am, Harendra Rajpura (62), a retired employee of the Gujarat Electricity Board and his wife Bhavna (47) arrived from Bhavnagar by bus and were crossing the highway to catch an autorickshaw when a speeding Xylo hit them.


The couple had plans to visit Shirdi.

Bhavna died due to head injuries on the spot and Harendra succumbed after a four hour treatment at Sanjivani hospital. The driver of Xylo, Nishad Vasani (51) who was on his way to Panchgani with his family to meet his son, was arrested.

The police registered a complaint of causing death due to negligence but a magistrate's court released him on bail.

Bhavna's brother Ritesh Kukadiya (33) lives in KD Heights in Malad East and they had plans to visit Shirdi after two days.
