While there were no injuries, tracks were damaged; CR morning services affected
A Kalyan local derailed while entering CST last night, throwing CR services out of gear. However, none of the passengers were injured.
At around 10.30 pm, the train's second-last compartment jumped off the tracks before entering platform number 6, damaging tracks and affecting signal points.
As a result trains heading towards CST were either cancelled or stopped at Dadar.
"We swung into action immediately. Incidentally, the number of commuters were lesser than usual due to the cyclone warning," said A K Singh, PRO, CR.
Due to the impact of the derailment, a part of platform no 6 was also wrecked (pictured). "The restoration will be done before train services start in the morning," said Singh.
However, this came as no relief to stranded commuters. "The railways should at least announce the reason for the delay.
My train halted for over 45 minutes between Kurla and Matunga and later we were informed that it wouldn't move beyond Dadar. It took two hours to reach CST," said Sham Sinha, a Fort resident.
Trains were running late at the time of going to press they continued to travel at delay of 20 minutes untill noon.
