Portal ranks most cosy hotels in country

Still undecided on your romantic gateway this Valentine's Day? Here's the virtual solution.

A leading travel portal, Trip Advise, has announced a list of top ten cosy hotels in the country that will make the lovers' day memorable.

The portal has ranked the hotels on the basis of feedback from its international and national visitors, who post their first-hand experience about these getaways on the site.

If The Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur, rules the chart as the most romantic hotel, Kerala's Zuri Kumarakom, boasting serene backwaters and palm trees, claims the second slot.

The only hotel in Maharashtra that finds mention in the list is The Machan & Camp Canopy, situated on the picturesque Lonavla hills (see box).

"In the year 2010, millions of travelers in India and abroad rated these hotels on different parameters such as cleanliness, eco-friendliness, luxury and cosiness," said Trip Advisor managing director Sharat Dhall.

One of the travellers, who has posted his views on the portal, said. "Add this one (The Taj Lake Palace Udaipur) to your must-do list of things before you die. I am simply enamoured with the heritage hotel.

"The palace makes you king/queen/prince/princess of your own world. It is so peaceful and tranquil that sometimes it feels like you have the whole place to yourself.

It is one of the most romantic hotels situated in the middle of a lake. The majestic white building standing tall in the middle of Pichola makes it a picture postcard site."
